UIDAI lets people with Aadhaar cardsto change their address without having to provide documentation. Aadhaar card holders were able to modify their address, but only if they had not presented proof of identity.

New Delhi: The Unique Identification Authority of India has temporarily suspended a vital service that allows you to modify your Aadhaar card's address without a identity proof.

UIDAI permits the users of Aadhaar cards to change their address with no need for any proof of identity. Aadhaar cardholders are able to change their address, provided they have consented to the verification from the address verification. A verifier of address could be a relative, friend landlord, family member or even a friend that will allow the Aadhaar card owner to verify their address.

UIDAI is now stopping this facility. UIDAI was notified by an Aadhaar Card owner via Twitter, stating that updating address on Aadhaar Card via Address Validation Letter is no longer available. UIDAI has requested that the Aadhaar issuer to remind users that they have the option to update their address by using another authentic PoA document.

Dear Residents Attention: The Service for Address Validation Letter service has been taken off until the end of time. Kindly request your address update using another valid PoA document from the list https://t.co/BeqUA0pkqL
